UTICA, N.Y. – The Mohawk Valley Latino Association (MVLA) invites the public to a special
event celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and fostering cultural exchange in the Mohawk
Valley. The celebration will be held on October 10 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Oneida County
History Center, located at 1608 Genesee Street, Utica.
This year’s speaker is Dr. Jose Maldonado, whose talk will focus on the contributions of Puerto
Rico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic. Maldonado is a Puerto Rican physician, retired from
clinical practice, and currently serves as Executive Director of the Medical Societies of Oneida,
Herkimer, Madison, Chenango, Cayuga, and Oswego Counties, and is also an avid genealogist.
This event is a great opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate the rich
contributions of Latino culture. This program is free and open to all. Bring your family and
friends. Light refreshments will be served. It will take place in the History Center’s main gallery.
