Maxine McNair, mother of Birmingham bombing victim Denise McNair, passed

Maxine McNair, the last living parent of any of the four Black girls killed in the 1963 16th Street Church bombing in Birmingham, Alabama died Sunday. McNair was 93 years old.

McNair was a public school teacher whose 11-year-old daughter Denise was killed in the 1963 Birmingham church bombing.

She was remembered by family as “an amazing wife and mother” who “imparted knowledge in the lives of hundreds.” She will be missed.
