Onondaga County Legislature votes to replace chair

There’s been a major shakeup in the Onondaga County Legislature.

During a meeting Monday, legislators moved to change chairs.

In a 9-8 vote, they elected Republican Jim Rowley to replace David Knapp.

Knapp, also a Republican, had been in the position since 2018.

All six of the Democrats on the board voted for Rowley, along with Republicans John McBride and Ken Bush.

That wasn’t the only change happening Monday.

Democrat Jim Ryan replaced fellow Democrat Linda Ervin as floor leader.
