Clinton, NY — The Kirkland Art Center is pleased to offer a holiday concert to bring out
the joy and wonder in all of us on Saturday, December 6 at 7:30 p.m.
One definition of creativity is the recombination of incompatible ideas or skills into an
unexpected, successful new thing. This concept certainly defines the genius behind the
group Fiddle Sax Fusion Band – a Hamilton-based area band consisting of Brian Stark
on saxophone, Jessie Stark on fiddle, and Mark Shiner on percussion. An unlikely
grouping of musical instruments? You bet! The sound? Glorious!
Originally from Urbana, Illinois, Brian and Jessie moved to Hamilton NY in 2023, where
Brian works as a music professor at Colgate University. During Covid, they began
playing together and found unlikely synergy in their favored genres: Irish/Americana/Old
Timey for Jessie’s fiddle playing, and blues-infused jazz for Brian. They soon added a
percussionist and began playing in their front yard for neighbors. They moved onto
paying gigs in Illinois and now in upstate New York. They released their first album,
“Grumbling Growling and Other Pandemic Breakdowns” in 2023 and “Advent” in 2024.
Rev up your holiday spirit with the remarkable sound of this unexpected ensemble!
Please join us at the Kirkland Art Center to hear the sounds of the season from this
talented trio. Tickets are $20 adults, students $15, children under 12 $12.
