Conley stars as F-M pounds Central Square

The red-hot F-M Hornets dispatched the Redhawks of Central Square, 49-12 in the Class A Quarterfinals Friday night, stamping their presence as a prime contender for the sectional championship.

TJ Conley ran for 203 yards on just 12 carries, and scored three touchdowns in the runaway victory. Quarterback Chris Hoalcraft ran for two more scores and also threw for one for the Hornets, who’ve now won five straight games since their only loss of the season.

F-M (6-1) hasn’t won a sectional football title since claiming the Class AA crown in 2001, but this could be the year for a breakthrough.

The Hornets are averaging 36 points per game, led by the youngest son of former SU star Dan Conley, TJ, who’s committed to playing college lacrosse at Rutgers.

The only time F-M lost a game this season was in week two at Indian River by a score of 50-21. If the Hornets win one more game, a semifinal showdown with 6th-seed CBA next week, they’ll likely get a chance to avenge that loss in the Class A Final at the Carrier Dome.
