CENTRAL NEW YORK STATE LEGISLATORS ENDORSE LIPE FOR ASSEMBLY

UTICA – Jon Lipe, Democratic candidate for the 119th Assembly District, announced today that his campaign has been endorsed by four leading Central New York legislators: State Senator Rachel May, State Senator Lea Webb, Assemblymember Al Stirpe, and Assemblymember Anna Kelles. They join a long list of other elected officials and advocacy groups who have backed Lipe’s campaign.

“Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with many respected members of our Central New York delegation in the state legislature,” Lipe said. “I am deeply honored to have the confidence and support of State Senator May, State Senator Webb, Assemblyman Stirpe, and Assemblywoman Kelles in this race. If I am the Democratic nominee and elected in November, I will get right to work in January, joining my Upstate colleagues in delivering for our region.”

State Senator Rachel May represents the 48th State Senate District, which includes the cities of Syracuse and Auburn. She previously represented portions of Oneida County. Assemblyman Al Stirpe represents the 127th Assembly District, which covers the areas north and east of Syracuse, including a portion of Madison County. Assemblywoman Anna Kelles represents the 125th Assembly District, which includes the cities of Cortland and Ithaca. State Senator Lea Webb represents the 52nd State Senate District, which includes the cities of Cortland, Ithaca, and Binghamton.

Lipe has also been endorsed by Congressman Pat Ryan (D-Kingston), the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 43, the Working Families Party, and StreetsPAC. Lipe has received a 100% rating from Planned Parenthood of Greater New York Action Fund.

Lipe is currently seeking the Democratic nomination in this month’s primary. Lipe has secured the Working Families Party ballot line as well as an independent ballot line called Mohawk Valley First. Lipe was the only candidate in the race to pursue a line for independent voters. If he is the Democratic nominee, Lipe would be the only candidate for State Assembly to appear on three ballot lines in November.
The Democratic primary will be held on Tuesday, June 23rd. Early voting begins on Saturday, June 13th.

Jon Lipe has spent his career in public service working to build a better future for families in the Mohawk Valley. Over the past twenty years, he has worked for Congressmen Sherwood Boehlert, Anthony Brindisi, and John Mannion. If elected, Lipe will fight to protect healthcare access, lower energy costs, and promote local economic growth. Lipe lives in Whitesboro with his wife and two children.

The 119th Assembly District includes the cities of Utica and Rome, as well as the towns of Floyd, Marcy, Deerfield, and Whitestown. It is currently represented by Democrat Marianne Buttenschon, who previously also ran on the Mohawk Valley First ballot line and is retiring this year after four terms in office.
