Calling All Oneida County Businesses: We need your help to provide worksites for our Youth Employment Program (YEP)
Utica, NY – The Workforce Development Board (WDB), Herkimer, Madison, Oneida Counties, Inc., in partnership with Oneida County Workforce Development, is in need of Oneida County businesses to provide worksites for its Youth Employment Program (YEP).
YEP is an important platform that is intended to help reduce community gun violence and youth criminal justice involvement by providing year-round employment opportunities.
These funds will support the establishment of a program which includes employment, education and/or career exploration opportunities for TANF-eligible youth from low-income households.
This funding is further intended to support employment programs for youth at risk of gun violence as part of a statewide gun-violence reduction intervention model.
Benefits to businesses include:
- Youth workers from the age of 14 to 20. Youth, who must meet income eligibility, can work up to 120 hours between January 1st, 2024, and June 30th, 2024. Youth will be working after-school hours, weekends and on breaks.
- Youth can perform indoor maintenance, serving dinner, helping pass out food, spring cleanups for either your organization or your neighborhood, and many others.
- Minimal Paperwork. Youth will be recruited, hired, and paid through the Office of Workforce Development.
