Congressman Anthony Brindisi today announced a $70,000 grant award for the Mohawk Valley Economic Development District (MVEDD). The funding comes from the Economic Development Administration and will help establish strategies to support private capital investment and job creation in the region.
“Communities across the Mohawk Valley are feeling the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, and this federal funding will help give businesses in our area the tools they need to build back better,” said Brindisi. “Groups like MVEDD are essential in the fight to strengthen our Upstate economy. I will keep working with members of both parties to bring federal dollars back to our district.”
Mohawk Valley Economic Development District Executive Director Stephen Smith praised Brindisi’s dedication to Upstate economic growth.
“We here at the Mohawk Valley Economic Development District, Inc. truly appreciate the support of Congressmen Anthony Brindisi of the 22nd District and the Economic Development Administration for its continued support with its Planning Grant of $70,000 to help with our operations. This support is critical in the function of our office to create jobs, to spark economic development and to sprout a continued resiliency in the Mohawk Valley,” said Smith.
In July, Brindisi secured $400,000 in federal funding for the Mohawk Valley Economic Development District through the CARES Act.
