About the Becoming the Changemaker Curriculum:
Becoming the Changemaker is a nonpartisan civic engagement curriculum created by Aaron Woodman to give you the necessary information on how civic engagement can help you make positive change in your community and expand your perspective on what it takes to be civically engaged, so we create a sense of community and belonging.
The mission of this curriculum is to convey the necessary skills and knowledge someone needs to be civically engaged and make a positive difference in society. The vision of this curriculum is to enhance the meaning of civic engagement by helping people understand our government & institutional structures, know their roles in society, interpret & present accurate information, have civic dialogue, collaborate & mobilize with people, and believe in themselves.
Here are the reasons for making this curriculum:
1. To share what civic engagement truly means and to help others understand how to actively participate in shaping a better society. The curriculum offers a comprehensive framework for becoming an engaged and informed citizen.
2. To help protect and strengthen our democracy, which depends on inclusive and active participation. With ongoing challenges around civil & voting rights and civic inclusion, it is crucial that we work together to build systems that represent all people, not just a few.
3. To make the civic process more accessible and less overwhelming. This curriculum is here to support you in gaining the knowledge and confidence to meaningfully engage in civic life.
There is the Becoming the Changemaker YouTube channel that has video content lessons on the curriculum’s topics. The first video was launched on November 5, 2025. This channel allows people to learn more about what the curriculum covers and become more educated about civic engagement. It is structured to have multiple video set series that focus on particular themes related to the curriculum. For instance, there are playlists of videos that give an overview of the curriculum, types of political systems, foundations of the United States Constitution, the history of disinformation, leadership skills, and so much more.
You can subscribe to this YouTube channel so you can stay updated on future content.
