We knew the AAA tag team titles would be defended on this week’s special Saturday night episode of AEW Dynamite but we didn’t know who Lucha Bros would be defending those titles against. Andrade had teased a mystery team while assuring us they are friends of his but “NOT WHO YOU THINK.”
As my man Sean pointed out, a lot of fans thought he was talking about Los Ingobernables. It turns out, Andrade was right and it was not who we thought:
It was played for a joke during the live broadcast, as CM Punk who was on guest commentary for the show, very quickly figured out that it was Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler under those ridiculous outfits and he wasn’t shy about saying as much.
They didn’t do any flips, is what gave it away.
Meanwhile, they had quite the battle with Penta and Fenix before Tully Blanchard ran down to distract the referee, allowing FTR to use the belt as a weapon and score the pinfall victory to become the new AAA tag team champions.
