COVID-19-related hospitalizations in Albany County now number more than 100.
A net increase of 10 hospitalizations in the last day brought the county’s total to 109, according to a release from the county. Twenty-five of the hospitalizations were new.
There were 733 new positive cases reported in the last day, and the county’s seven-day average of cases per 100,000 is up to 155.8.
The death of a woman in her 80s brings Albany County’s COVID-19 death toll to 473.
“As hospitalizations continue to rise, we will likely see even more deaths, unfortunately,” said Albany County Executive Dan McCoy. “The number of county residents in the hospital has now more than doubled from the 51 individuals we reported the day after Christmas, further straining our hospital system that has already been impacted by healthcare workers getting infected after the latest surge of COVID cases.”
The county is asking people who test positive using at-home kits to submit those results on their website through this online link.
