SUNY Poly is “Buzzing into Action” with Free Hands-On Pollinator Workshop for Young Scientists

UTICA, NY – Following the success of the SUNY Poly Spotlight Series’ pre-collegiate February school  break camps, SUNY Poly is excited to announce a free and engaging pre-collegiate workshop,  “Buzzing into Action: Exploring the World of Pollinators,” on Thursday, March 6, from 4 – 6 p.m.

Led by Dr. Margarita Orlova, Assistant Professor of Biology and Chemistry at SUNY Poly, this free  interactive session is designed for middle and high school students (ages 11-18) to explore the vital  role of pollinators in our ecosystems. Participants will dive into the fascinating world of insects,  learning to identify different species, observe their behaviors, and understand the crucial processes  that sustain plant life and food systems. Through hands-on activities, students will gain a deeper  appreciation of these tiny yet powerful contributors to environmental health.

“Pollinators are the unsung heroes of our ecosystems, playing a critical role in sustaining plant life  and food production,” said John Reade, Director of Pre-Collegiate Outreach. “Through this hands-on  workshop, students will gain a deeper appreciation for these tiny but mighty creatures and the  essential work they do for our environment.”
