By Michelle Laguerre

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is pulling out all the stops to ensure that every voice in New York’s 22nd Congressional District (NY-22) is heard this election season. Recognizing the critical role that Central New York could play, the DNC has been sending resources and mobilizing leaders throughout the region to drive high voter turnout. With so much on the line, they’re focused on rallying support for Senator John Mannion, whose vision for the community includes creating good-paying jobs, reducing costs, and making home ownership a reality for everyone.

This past weekend, the DNC’s push reached a new peak with a powerful rally held at Tucker Baptist Missionary Church. Pastor Orlando Raper welcomed House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Senator Rachel May, and Assemblymember Pamela Hunter. The event, despite rainy weather, drew over 600 attendees, including a busload of young voters from Buffalo eager to engage in the democratic process. It felt like a revival, with impassioned speeches, music, and a deep sense of purpose filling the room.

Brandon Williams expressed his confidence in winning the election, citing that 60,000 Republicans have already voted early in Madison County and Onondaga. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, a key speaker, didn’t hold back in emphasizing the urgency of the situation. He shared a pointed message.  “To counter this, it’s crucial that supporters of Senator Manion take action to ensure his victory”. What can be done to support him?

“It’s essential for everyone to vote early. Bring your friends, family, neighbors, and community members to vote for John Manion. He is committed to fighting for the community’s interests. He aims to secure good-paying jobs, reduce costs, and make home ownership achievable for everyone. Additionally, he plans to work with the next President of the United States, Kamala Harris, to develop an opportunity economy in Central New York.

The DNC’s efforts In NY-22 don’t stop there. With even the Lieutenant Governor of New York making an appearance in Central New York today, November 4th, it’s clear that every resource is being used to energize voters. This extensive mobilization aims to remind people that their votes are essential, especially in a district where high turnout could tip the balance.
