Equality For All
We deserve to have a president and vice president who will represent every American. The Republican presidential and vice-presidential candidates have indicated they will not do this. Trump has stated he will pursue Americans he considers his enemies. J D Vance has condemned childless cat ladies. I am single and do not have children. I am concerned that if he should become our president the rights of myself and other childless women and men who don’t meet his description of parents would be at risk, though he doesn’t target childless men like he does women.
Vance doesn’t acknowledge that there are many ways to contribute to and have “a stake in our country” other than marriage and/or delivering a child. I personally have spent the last thirty-nine years as a nurse and nurse practitioner taking care of sick babies. Among my single, childless friends is a teacher who is retired after thirty plus years, and single women who have adopted and raised orphaned children. There are many other examples of the ways single, childless Americans have participated in the care of children and disadvantaged Americans. We are all deeply committed to America and the future of our country.
I want to see everyone in our country treated equally despite the private decisions we make about our families. In America we are all equal. Harris and Walz will respect that truth, the Republicans have told us they won’t. Vote blue to protect our rights and freedoms as Americans.
