BRINDISI REMARKS ON FLOOD RESILIENCY & CUOMO VISIT; URGES STATE TO DEDICATE SPECIAL OFFICE FOR ONEIDA COUNTY AND HERKIMER COUNTY RESILIENCY PROJECTS

“Today’s visit by Governor Cuomo is both welcomed and appreciated because flood victims in our area have suffered repeatedly. Today’s news is a good first step in our larger efforts to help alleviate the flooding impacts of storms. But New York State must do more. That is why I am also calling on the Governor to use the weight of his office to establish a special state-backed Oneida/Herkimer County Office of Flood Resiliency that would work hand and glove with locals to streamline state agency approvals for mitigation projects and help fund them, too. The bottom line is that another storm is inevitable, but with the state leading, we can build a firewall of defense that better protects this area from the next storm, and mark my words, there will be another. We need the state to lead the way here and help make our best mitigation and resiliency projects an ASAP reality.”–  Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi of Utica.
