All schools in the Albany City School District will move to remote learning through the end of next week due to a sharp rise in COVID-19 cases, the district announced Wednesday afternoon on its website.
The district has reported 266 new COVID-19 cases from Dec. 23 through Tuesday.
“Due to the impact of this dramatic surge on district staffing levels, and to help slow the spread of the disease within our school community, the district will shift to distance learning until Tuesday, Jan. 18,” the district stated.
Additional information from the district is expected next week.
Students will be provided Chromebooks and chargers Wednesday.
In-person extracurricular activities such as sports and theater will continue on regular schedules while students are on distance learning.
Schools will continue to distribute COVID-19 test kits Thursday and Friday. Parents and guardians should report all positive test results to the Albany County Health Department and your school nurse.
