Like other cinematic universes, the DCEU provides audiences with plenty of enjoyable and thrilling adventures starring their favorite superheroes. The universe includes some of the most intriguing and compelling locations in cinema, from islands inhabited by fierce warriors to advanced civilizations doomed by others’ mistakes. Cities, towns, and underwater kingdoms make the DCEU one of a kind.

All these places hold a certain appeal, but some are definitely more attractive than others. Whether because of their natural beauty, exciting venues, or historical significance, some places top any fan’s list of desired destinations. However, there are also those destinations that everyone should avoid at all costs unless they’re traveling with Superman.

10 Wouldn’t Want To Visit: Gotham
Gotham City is one of the most famous comic book locations, but it’s a pretty awful place to visit. The city is home to multiple gangsters, mob bosses, sadistic clowns, and an absurd amount of deranged criminals. Gotham is dark, gloomy, seemingly perpetually cloudy, and overall bleak.
Sure, Gotham is home to the Dark Knight, but he hardly ever shows himself in broad daylight. As a vigilante, he prefers anonymity, so it’s not like he’s out and about taking selfies with passersby. Gotham is a major city and has everything that comes with it, but it’s not exactly the most touristy destination in the DCEU.
9 Would Want To Visit: Metropolis
In comparison, Metropolis is a worthy travel destination, the light to Gotham’s dark. Movies and comic books usually represent Metropolis as a prosperous, even peaceful city, defended by the Man of Steel himself, fan-favorite Superman.
Within the DC continuity, Metropolis is also one of the largest and wealthiest cities in the world. Visitors can spend entire days in New Troy, the city’s principal borough, similar to Manhattan in New York. The Daily Planet offices and LexCorp are two of the tallest skyscrapers in New Troy. Tourists could also visit Chinatown and Little Bohemia or spend some time in Glenmorgan Square, Metropolis’ equivalent for Times Square.

8 Wouldn’t Want To Visit: Belle Reve
Visiting a prison of any kind is never a particularly fun or pleasant experience. However, Belle Reve is worse than any regular prison. As the headquarters of the infamous and occasionally heroic Suicide Squad, Belle Reve houses multiple metahuman criminals.
Regular people would never be allowed anywhere near Belle Reve, so it’s not like it has tourist groups going through the front door. Still, some people might have an interest in seeing if the rumors about the prison are true. However, their journey would most likely end in tragedy because no one in Belle Reve takes kindly to strangers, not even the guards.
7 Would Want To Visit: The Rock Of Eternity
There’s not much to do or see at the Rock of Eternity. It’s a cave with only one other inhabitant, the Wizard Shazam, and seven terrifying statues representing the Deadly Sins. For all terms and purposes, the Rock of Eternity is a derelict place with not much appeal.

However, the wizard can bestow his powers onto one of the visitors, the Champion, who must be pure of heart. There’s only one Champion, so the competition is stiff. Still, to even get the chance of being considered is enough for many fans to want to visit the cave and take their shot.

6 Wouldn’t Want To Visit: Midway City
Midway City is the location where most of Suicide Squad‘s action takes place. Before the Enchantress’ attack, Midway was a seemingly average city, with its inhabitants living their day-to-day lives. After the attack, however, it became ground zero for a massive attack, infested with disturbing rock-like monsters.
Midway didn’t seem like a particularly appealing destination even before its destruction. Afterward, the city got so devastated by the attack that it probably became inhospitable anyways.
5 Would Want To Visit: Krypton
If humanity has proven anything is that they won’t miss the chance to travel to space. Nearly everyone would love to visit another planet, even if they were also afraid to do it. Krypton is, arguably, the most famous fictional planet in the mainstream, and with good reason. Home to one of the most advanced civilizations in DC Comics, Krypton is the homeworld to DC’s mightiest, and at times fearsome hero, Superman.
Both the comic and the DCEU depict Krypton as a formidable planet full of scientific and technological advancements. Kryptonians also possess heightened strength and speed as well as superior intellect. If only for the chance to experience this fantastical civilization, fans would love to visit Krypton. However, there is one huge downside.

4 Wouldn’t Want To Visit: Krypton
As every fan knows, Krypton perishes in a massive explosion that decimates every living thing on the planet. Throughout the years, the reasons for Krypton’s demise changed. The DCEU puts the blame squarely on ambitious people who destabilize Krypton by mining the planetary core.
Traveling to Krypton would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but it would also mean a sure demise. Still, if someone did get to visit the planet, it would be logical to assume they knew about Krypton’s fate, and so they would take the appropriate measures before traveling. Still, it’s too great a risk to take, and a lot of things could go wrong.
3 Would Want To Visit: Atlantis
The legendary lost Kingdom of Atlantis has been marveling and puzzling the world for centuries. This mythical island, supposedly one of the most advanced civilizations in history, plays a prominent role in the DCEU, serving as the homeworld for superhero Aquaman.

The DCEU’s Atlantis is nothing short of breathtaking. Split into seven Kingdoms, Atlantis remains technologically advanced and prosperous. It is also visually stunning, enough to make any human heart stop in wonder. Anyone would jump at the chance to visit the supposedly fictional city, but few would ever get the chance.

2 Wouldn’t Want To Visit: Kingdom Of The Trench
Audiences got only a brief glimpse of the Trench during 2018’s blockbuster Aquaman. Still, it was enough to understand how dangerous this underwater kingdom is.
Inhabited by vicious and cannibalistic creatures, the Trench, this kingdom is, perhaps, the worst place the DCEU has introduced so far. Aquaman can command the Trench once he acquires Atlan’s trident, so they’re not entirely primal. However, if it takes a legendary trident hidden in the depths of the sea to control these ocean-dwelling creatures, then regular folks should stay as far away from them as possible. Warner Bros. recently scrapped a feature film based on these creatures, but fans still want to see more of the Trench.
1 Would Want To Visit: Themyscira
The island of Themyscira, homeworld to the powerful Wonder Woman, is the definition of paradise. Inhabited by fierce and brave warriors who seemingly spend all their time training, Themyscira is a secluded and peaceful community for only the best of the best. The island can shift its location throughout time and space in the comics, making it even more appealing.
There’s one major setback: men are not allowed in Themyscira, and their presence is punishable by death. Still, for women, this feminist utopia is the ultimate destination. In some versions, Themyscira is home to mythological creatures such as Chiron the Centaur, Ladon the dragon, a chimera, and even a sphynx. Talk about history, or in this case, mythology coming to life.
