Young Scholars Hosting Grow Big Dreams Celebration Dinner at Utica

WHAT:

The Young Scholars Liberty Partnerships Program, a collaborative program between
Utica City School District (UCSD) and Utica University (UU), is hosting its Grow Big
Dreams Celebration Dinner in the Donohue Concourse of the Frank E. Gannett
Memorial Library on the UU campus on Tuesday, March 24 th from 5-7 p.m.
Approximately 130 guests are expected to attend, consisting of community members
from local businesses, UU, UCSD, as well as current and past Young Scholars. Young
Scholars serves students in grades 7-12 in the UCSD.
The event will be centered around current students as they present to guests on their
personal experiences with the program. Highlighting the evening is a keynote address by
Gabriella Girona, Esq., a Young Scholars and UCSD graduate from the class of 2003,
and currently Director of the Eviction Defense Program of Volunteer Lawyers Project of
CNY.
Media are invited to obtain footage and take photographs throughout the entirety of the
event, and interview students and Young Scholars staff during the reception portion of
the event from 5 p.m.- 5:45 p.m.

Reception: March 24th, 5 p.m-5:45 p.m.
Dinner and Program: March 25th, 6 p.m.-7 p.m.

ABOUT YOUNG SCHOLARS:

Established in 1993, YSLPP is a comprehensive, 12-month program designed to
motivate talented UCSD students to stay in school, earn a New York State Regents
Diploma with Advanced Designation and graduate prepared for the next step in their
education or career. YSLPP programming provides intensive academic intervention and
career guidance along with social and cultural enrichment.
