ROME, NY – The YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley has been awarded a $1.8 million grant from New York State to significantly expand and update childcare capacity at the Rome Family YMCA. The funding was awarded as part of Governor Kathy Hochul’s $106 million Childcare Capital Construction Funding Program, which is designed to help communities increase the availability of licensed childcare while creating modern, safe, and accessible spaces.
This capital investment will allow the Rome Family YMCA to execute facility improvements, renovations and equipment upgrades, directly addressing the critical demand for expanded, high-quality early childcare in the Mohawk Valley.
The statewide initiative is overseen by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) and administered by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY). The YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley was selected as one of 37 projects across the state and one of only three recipients in the Mohawk Valley to receive funding in this competitive award process.
