AEW Dynamite “Beach Break” – July 8, Clearwater, Florida

AEW’s beach-themed special, broadcast from The BayCare Sound on TBS and HBO Max, delivered a massive main event. Two outlets independently confirmed the same results:

• AEW World Championship: Kenny Omega defeated MJF by pinfall to win the title, according to both PWTorch and Wrestling Attitude. Omega told Renee Paquette backstage before the match, “In my career, I’ve done my best work with my back against the wall,” and after the win, he said the victory means he “finished the race.”
• AEW International Championship: Kyle Fletcher defeated Konosuke Takeshita by pinfall to become the new champion, handing Takeshita a rare clean loss.

• Noam Dar & Romeo Moreno defeated The MOG Squad’s Jacari Ball & Santi Rivera
• Harley Riggins defeated Ulka Sasaki
• Nikkita Lyons’ championship celebration ended in chaos when Laynie Luck attacked her, put her through a table and posed with the title to close the show.

Next week’s EVOLVE card is set, with Aaron Rourke defending the EVOLVE Championship against Harlem Lewis.

Wrestling News: Signings & Firings

• Sheamus is leaving WWE after nearly 20 years with the company. Multiple outlets, including Cageside Seats and Fightful, confirm the exit is happening. Eric Bischoff commented that Sheamus’ departure is part of “the circle of freaking life,” while Drew McIntyre honored his longtime friend on his way out.
• Jack Perry has re-signed with AEW. According to Fightful, WWE reportedly had “little to no internal discussion” about pursuing Perry had he hit free agency, closing the door on any WWE speculation.

• False Finish reports that CM Punk’s title win over Sami Zayn — and his path to defending the belt at SummerSlam — has been planned “for well over a month.” The outlet adds that WWE’s original plan called for Punk to face Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 43, but the company moved the match to SummerSlam instead.

Her top career achievement came when WWE inducted her into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013, cementing her legacy as one of the most influential women’s champions of all time. She also returned periodically for high-profile matches, including at WrestleMania, long after her in-ring retirement.

Today, Stratus stays connected to the business as a backstage producer and occasional on-air talent for WWE, helping shape modern women’s storylines while also running her own yoga and fitness brand.
