Volunteers Needed to Participate in National Historic Marker Day Community Service Project Utica, N.Y.

UTICA: The Oneida County History Center is looking for volunteers to help clean historic markers during the third annual National Historic Marker Day on Friday, April 28 at 4 p.m. Participants should meet at the Chenango Canal Historic Marker in Clinton at the corner of Chenango Ave. South and College Street.
Launched as a grassroots celebration by the William G. Pomeroy Foundation, a philanthropic organization based in Syracuse, N.Y., National Historic Marker Day brings people together to maintain local markers by cleaning them and providing an opportunity to celebrate and preserve history. This fun and family-friendly celebration is held on the last Friday of every April. Individuals, as well as groups of all sizes, are welcome to volunteer, including families and friends, civic organizations, schools, and young groups, to name a few.
Those who want to participate can contact the History Center at ochc@oneidacountyhistory.org. To learn more, get updates and access to cleaning guides on the official National Historic Marker Day you can log onto the Pomeroy Foundation website: https://www.wgpfoundation.org/national-historicmarker-day/.
