Volunteers Needed for local iCan Bike camp Aug 21 – 25

Are you looking to make a difference in people’s lives?  Join the Kelberman Center during the week of August 21-25 at the New Hartford Recreation Center as a part of the iCan Bike Program. We will have 30 to 40 riders participating in our first iCan Bike camp and we need to secure 2 spotters per rider – up to 80 volunteers needed!

Volunteers can be as young as 16 years old, making this a great opportunity for high school and college-age students. Ideally, volunteers can attend the same 1 ½ hour session each day for five days and see their rider progress throughout the week, but we can also accept volunteers for just one or two days as well. We are in need of volunteers for the following session times:

Session #1:    8:30 am – 9:45 am

Session #2:  10:05 am – 11:20 am

Session #3:  11:40 am – 12:55 pm

Session #4:  2:00 pm – 3:15 pm

Session #5:  3:35 pm – 4:50 pm

Volunteers will provide physical, emotional and motivational support to their assigned rider and will do some light jogging. iCan Shine is a nonprofit organization that teaches individuals with disabilities to ride a conventional two-wheel bicycle through the iCan Bike program. Those interested in registering for this great program as a rider or volunteer can download registration forms from https://icanshine.org/ican-bike-utica-ny/.  For questions or more information call The Kelberman Center at (315) 797-6241 or email us at info@kelbermancenter.org.
