UFC star Jorge Masvidal knocks out Chris Jericho

Tonight’s (Sept. 24) special 2-hour “Grand Slam” edition of AEW Rampage featured Chris Jericho and Jake Hager in a tag team match against the Men of the Year, Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page. After weeks of American Top Team’s Dan Lambert trashing AEW’s product and its fans, this match came about after Jericho interrupted Lambert last week and serenaded him as a “fat-faced dipshit.”

This tag match didn’t necessarily look like one of the most important bouts on the Rampage card, but it delivered what will probably be the most talked about angle tonight.

The finish came when Lambert interfered from ringside by illegally grabbing Hager’s leg, leading to a roll up victory for Sky.

After the match was over, Jericho and Hager dragged Lambert’s ass into the ring and were about to put a beating on him. That’s when the rest of American Top Team suddenly surrounded the ring. This included MMA stars like Junior Dos Santos, Andrei Arlovski, and Paige VanZant. A wild brawl broke out, and the numbers were too much for Jericho and Hager to handle.

The big moment here came when cocky UFC fighter Jorge Masvidal knocked Jericho out with a running knee:

For those of you who aren’t too familiar with Masvidal, he was acknowledged by The Rock two years ago as the “Baddest Motherfucker” in UFC.

Jericho loves celebrity and crossover involvement in his angles, so this one is right up his alley. Where do you think this story is going, Cagesiders?
