Members of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services National Disaster Medical System arrived at Upstate University Hospital Monday to help out with the latest surge in cases.
The team of medical professionals will be assisting members of the emergency department and other non-ICU areas at Upstate, as staffing shortages continue to affect the facility.
It’s a 31-member team consists of physicians, pharmacists, PAs, nurses and other healthcare staff.
They will work alongside the Upstate staff until next Friday, January 14.
The incoming team members will have federally-issued HHS badges while working on site.
