REMSEN, NY — The Remsen Arts Center presents the Tuesday Night Big Band live concert on Tuesday, August 4th at 7pm at 9627 Main Street, Remsen, NY. Free will donation.
The Tuesday Night Big Band was formed in the summer of 1991. Since that time the band has spent each summer season and occasional holidays playing at parks, concert venues, and private events. The 14 members are experienced musicians that come from the Utica region. At this time, 4 players from 1991 still remain in the group, and many have been in the group for nearly 20 years.
Most of the music played by the band was first popular in the 1930s and ‘40s by big bands, including ones led by Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Benny Goodman and many others. The Tuesday Night Big Band enjoys keeping this music alive for audience enjoyment into the 21st century plus playing more recent compositions.
