RESOLUTION OF THE GREATER UTICA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Congratulating the Utica Comets on Completion of 5th Anniversary Season
WHEREAS; the Utica Comets have concluded their 5th successful season of bringing AHL hockey to Utica, NY, and
WHEREAS; for their 5th anniversary season, they brought exciting expansions to the home of the Comets including: a brand-new Executive Suite wing, women’s restroom, office space, Labatt Blue Ticket Entrance and a new name under The Adirondack Bank Center at Utica Memorial Auditorium, and
WHEREAS; The Utica Comets have been extremely successful in ticket sales and developing a rabid fan base, with a record 40 sellouts in their 2015-16 season and 133 consecutive sellouts from April 10, 2015 to date, which in turn has helped transform and revitalize economic activity in Downtown Utica, and
WHEREAS; The Utica Comets have made it to the Calder Cup Playoffs for 3 out of their 5 seasons, making it to the final round of playoffs as runners up for the 2015 Calder Cup, and
WHEREAS; The Adirondack Bank Center at Utica Memorial Auditorium and the Utica Comets have hosted two AHL All-Star Classics, presented by Turning Stone Resort Casino, in 2015 and 2018, which brought in representatives from all 30 AHL teams to our city, and
WHEREAS; The Adirondack Bank Center at Utica Memorial Auditorium recently opened 72 Tavern & Grill, a 5,000 square foot restaurant open seven days a week, enhancing commerce and adding to the restaurant scene of Downtown Utica.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Directors of the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce congratulates the Utica Comets on the completion of their 5th anniversary season and commends them for creating an experience second to none at the Adirondack Bank Center at Utica Memorial Auditorium and driving positive economic growth to Downtown Utica.
