The Family Counseling Center Announces State-wide Summit on Domestic Violence

 

[Gloversville, NY] The Family Counseling Center of Fulton County is announcing that its domestic violence program, The Domestic Violence Program of Fulton County will be hosting a state-wide summit on the Intersection of Domestic Violence, Mental Health, and Substance Use on August 21, 2024. The event will be a day-long conference held on the campus of Fulton Montgomery Community College. This summit will bring together mental health providers and domestic violence professionals, along with community members, local law enforcement, and others with a focus on caring for those seeking safety and creating relationships free from abuse.

Speakers include Ali Moss, a survivor of domestic abuse who specializes in helping people release trauma and find their authenticity. Jessica Cary, LMHC, and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Cary’s work is devoted to empowering survivors of Intimate Partner Violence. Anthony Rizzuto, LMSW, CASAC. Rizzuto’s work has focused on substance use along with male abusive partners, domestic violence, and healing.

Tickets to the Domestic Violence Summit are currently open to the public at a cost of $25 per person. Tickets and event information are available on The Family Counseling Center’s website at: https://www.thefamilycounselingcenter.org/dvsummit/.

“We are excited to welcome domestic violence professionals from across New York State, along with community members, and local partners to our first Domestic Violence Summit,” said Amanda Anderson, Director of The Domestic Violence Program of Fulton County. “Domestic violence has many root causes but again and again we can see the intersection of domestic violence, substance use, and mental health. The Summit is meant to highlight these overlapping issues, provide insight on them, and give skills and understanding for us to move forward in our work.”
