THE CITY OF UTICA-Bureau of Fire

At approximately 6:10 am this morning Utica Fire crews responded to a fire at 1150Kossuth Ave. Upon arrival fire crews observed smoke on the second floor and in the eaves.Firefighters entered and performed a search of the structure and found the fire in the second-floor ceiling area. Crews were able to quickly extinguish a fire in the second-floor ceiling and attic area.

Residents were awoken by smoke detectors and found smoke in the second-floor area. All occupants and pets made it out of the building safely. Gas and electric were shut off to the structure and all 7 occupants will not be able to stay in the building for now. Fire damage
was confined to the second-floor ceiling and attic space, however, there was slight to moderate smoke and water damage throughout the structure.

Fire investigators are on location and further information will be released as to the cause and origin when the investigation is complete. There were no reported injuries to any firefighters.
