Television Icon Betty White to Be Immortalized on USPS Forever Stamp

In a fitting tribute to one of America’s most beloved entertainers, the United States Postal Service has announced plans to honor Betty White with a commemorative Forever stamp in 2025. The announcement celebrates White’s remarkable seven-decade career in television and her lasting impact on American popular culture.

White, who passed away in 2021 just weeks shy of her 100th birthday, charmed audiences across generations through her iconic roles as Sue Ann Nivens on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and Rose Nylund on “The Golden Girls.” Beyond her television career, she was also known for her tireless advocacy for animal welfare, making her legacy both cultural and humanitarian.

The stamp features a stunning digital illustration created by artist Dale Stephanos, based on a 2010 photograph by Kwaku Alston. Stephanos recently shared his enthusiasm for the project on Instagram, expressing excitement about his contribution to this lasting tribute. The portrait captures White’s signature warmth and infectious smile that endeared her to millions of fans worldwide.

This philatelic honor places White among an distinguished roster of Americans whose contributions have been deemed significant enough to merit this permanent recognition. The stamp will be part of the USPS’s 2025 program, which includes other notable honorees such as musician Allen Toussaint, alongside themed releases like the Year of the Snake stamp for Lunar New Year and an Appalachian Trail series.

The decision to feature White on a Forever stamp particularly resonates given her enduring appeal across multiple generations of Americans. From her pioneering early work in television to her late-career renaissance that introduced her to new audiences, White’s influence on entertainment and popular culture has truly been “forever.”

While the exact release date in 2025 remains to be announced, this commemoration ensures that Betty White’s legacy will continue to touch lives in a uniquely tangible way, carrying her memory into the future one letter at a time.
