Syracuse to up alternative transportation methods

Syracuse is bringing back its bike-sharing program, but that’s not the oonly set of wheels the city is providing.

Mayor Ben Walsh announced that the Syracuse Sync program is coming back, bringing electric bikes back onto city streets, as well as electric scooters.

Syracuse is teaming up with Veo, and you can purchase a ride by downloading their app. Walsh believes this can help solve transportation issues in the city.

“We know that owning a car is the most expensive transportation option and arguably the least efficient. We think that this is going to help. It’s not going to solve everyone’s problems, but it’s another tool in the tool kit that helps us make sure that we have a number of alternative sources of transportation,” said Walsh.

The city plans to have 50 bikes and 250 scooters available at 30 locations across the city. The program starts on Saturday.
