On Saturday, June 8, 2024 at approximately 6:53pm, the Rome Police Department’s Patrol
Division responded to the 700 block of North George Street for a report of a burglary in
progress.
The resident, who was not home at the time, observed a person unknown to her, on her
home camera system inside the residence and called the police. Police arrived, entered the
residence, and found 29-year-old Benny U. Garden inside.
Garden was arrested and charged with Burglary in the 2nd degree. Garden was processed,
arraigned in Oneida County CAP court and released.

Date and Time: Saturday, June 8, 2024, at approximately 6:53 PM

Location: 700 block of North George Street, Rome, NY

Initial Report: The Rome Police Department’s Patrol Division received a call about a burglary in progress. The call came from a resident who was not at home at the time but observed the burglary through her home camera system.
