SUNY Poly Invites Students to Explore, Create, and Innovate with After-School and Spring Break Camps This April

UTICA, NY – SUNY Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly) is welcoming K-12 students to campus this April  for a series of engaging after-school workshops and April recess camps designed to spark creativity,  build STEM skills, and explore exciting career pathways. These hands-on programs offer opportunities to learn from experts, experiment with technology, and connect classroom  knowledge to real-world applications. 

“Whether students are building a wind turbine, meeting wildlife up close, or creating a 3D model  using artificial intelligence, these programs give them the chance to engage with science,  technology, and engineering in meaningful and fun ways,” said John Reade, Director of Pre Collegiate Outreach at SUNY Poly. “We’re excited to support young learners as they explore their  interests and discover what’s possible.” 

After-School Workshops 

  • Wind Power in Action April 2, 4 – 6 p.m. 

Build and take home your own functional wind turbine while learning about renewable  energy. 

  • UZ&U: The Utica Zoo Classroom Experience April 9, 6 – 8 p.m. 

Explore animal conservation and meet live wildlife during this interactive session. 

  • Quantum Games: Exploring Superposition Through Play April 14, 4 – 6 p.m. 

Celebrate World Quantum Day with games that teach quantum physics concepts. 

  • Build a Bridge: Explore the World of Civil Engineering! April 17, 4 – 6 p.m. 

Design, build, and test your own bridge in this creative engineering challenge. 

April Recess Camps 

  • 3D Printing & AI-Powered Modeling Camp April 22–24, 8:30 a.m. – Noon. 

Learn 3D design using AI tools, print your creations, and explore SUNY Poly’s IMGD Labs. Soaring into STEM with Utica Children’s Museum – April 22, 1-3 p.m. 

Elementary school students will explore science, nature, and engineering through fun-filled  activities. 

  • Explore the Future with Indium Corporation April 23, 1 – 5 p.m. 

Rotate through interactive stations to explore STEM careers at this innovative company. Money Management Basics April 24, 1 – 2 p.m. 

Learn budgeting, saving, and financial decision-making in this youth-friendly workshop.

  • STEAM Fusion: Where Music and Science Collide! April 25, 1 – 5 p.m. 

Experience station-based challenges, resilience-building, and the science of rhythm and  sound.
