State Police arrest Colonie man for possessing Child Pornography

On March 26, 2025, State Police of Latham, with the assistance of the Troop G Computer Crimes Unit, the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, The Colonie Police Department, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security arrested Michael J. Kebabjian Jr., 21, of Colonie, NY, for Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, a class “E” felony.

Kebabjian is accused of possessing images consistent with child sexual exploitation. His arrest followed an investigation and the execution of a search warrant at his Colonie, NY, residence on March 26, 2025. The investigation stemmed from a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Kebabjian was arrested and processed at SP Latham. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Colonie Town Court on April 9, 2025, and released.


Massena female arrested for forgery 2nd and grand larceny 3rd

On March 25, 2025, members of the State Police arrested Michelle L. Trombly, 41, of Massena, NY, on charges of Grand Larceny in the 3rd degree and Forgery in the 2nd degree.

On March 6, 2025, at approximately 12:15 p.m., when the New York State Department of Financial Services notified State Police that Trombly was stealing money from the New York State Insurance Fund. It was discovered that Trombly had been receiving checks from a deceased family member issued by the New York State Department of Financial Services. She forged the name of the deceased family member on these checks and cashed them.

Trombly was arrested and processed at the State Police station in Massena. She was subsequently arraigned in the Town of Massena Court and released on her own recognizance.


Update: State Police investigate a Kidnapping incident

Update:

On March 25, 2025, members of the New York State Police transported Sanders to the Schroon Lake Town Court for arraignment. Sanders was remanded to Essex County Jail on a bail requirement of $250,000 in cash or a bond of $1 million. A preliminary hearing for the felony charge is scheduled for March 31, 2025, at Essex County Court.

On March 25, 2025, New York State Police arrested Izik J. Sanders, a 19-year-old of Chestertown, NY, on multiple charges, including Kidnapping in the 2nd degree, Assault in the 2nd and 3rd degrees, two counts of Menacing in the 2nd degree, two counts of Criminal Obstruction of Breath or Blood Circulation, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree.

On March 25, 2025, at approximately 5:22 p.m., New York State Police responded to a report of a physical domestic incident on County Route 29 in the town of Minerva. An investigation revealed that Sanders and the victim had been involved in a physical altercation on March 23, 2025, during which Sanders struck the victim in the back of the head with his knee. Later that same day, Sanders sent threatening text message to the victim directed at a family member.

On March 25, 2025, the victim remained at the residence throughout the day due to a minor head injury and was fearful for the safety of their family members because of the threats made by Sanders. Further investigation determined that Sanders held the victim against their will in a bedroom, struck the victim multiple times with a bat, made threats while holding scissors to the victim’s neck, and applied pressure to the victim’s neck using a dog leash. The victim eventually managed to escape from the bedroom and get away from Sanders. Sanders then fled the scene.

Johnsburg Rescue responded to the scene and transported the victim to Glens Falls Hospital for non-life-threatening medical evaluation.

Sanders was later located, arrested, and taken to SP Schroon Lake for processing. He is currently being held in Essex County Jail, awaiting a pre-arraignment hearing at the Town of Schroon Court.

This remains an ongoing investigation.


State Police arrest Troy man for possessing Child Pornography

On March 25, 2025, State Police of Brunswick, with the assistance of the Troop G Computer Crimes Unit, the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, arrested Joshua W. Delgado, 39, of Troy, NY, for Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child, a class “D” felony, and Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, a class “E” felony.

Delgado is accused of promoting and possessing images consistent with child sexual exploitation. His arrest followed an investigation and the execution of a search warrant at his Troy, NY, residence on March 25, 2025. The investigation stemmed from a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Delgado was arrested SP Latham and transported to SP Brunswick for processing. He was arraigned at the Troy City Court and remanded to the Rensselaer County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 cash or a $250,000 partially secured bond.


Buffalo man arrested for sex crimes against children and resisting arrest

On March 26, 2025, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation stationed at SP Clarence arrested Lamarr A. Smith, 45 of Buffalo, NY for Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child (D Felony), Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child (E Felony), Tampering with Evidence, Resisting Arrest and Obstruction of Governmental Administration.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation out of SP Clarence with the assistance from the Troop A Computer Crimes Unit, conducted an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation in the city of Buffalo.  Investigation determined Smith possessed child pornography and was disseminating child pornography. Smith attempted to discard evidence and resisted arrest when being taken into custody.

Smith was arraigned at Buffalo City Court.

The mission of the ICAC Task Force is to identify individuals online who are attempting to lure children to meet for sex or those disseminating child sexual abuse material. The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program (ICAC program) helps state and local law enforcement agencies develop an effective response to technology-facilitated child sexual exploitation and Internet crimes against children.


Update: Two arrested on animal cruelty charges in Springfield

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation has arrested two people as a result of an animal cruelty case in the town of Springfield.

On February 27, 2025, New York State Police executed a search warrant at multiple properties on State Highway 80 in the town of Springfield.  Eight dogs, thirteen cats and one turtle were removed after they were observed to be in need of immediate medical care.  They were all turned over to the Susquehanna SPCA.

On March 25, 2025, Brian J. Fleming, age 64 and Theresa E. Fleming, age 61 both of Springfield, NY were both arrested at SP Richfield Springs.

Each have been charged with:

  • 11 counts of the Agriculture and Markets Law of Torturing or Injuring Animals/Failure to Provide Sustenance (misdemeanor)
  • 2 counts of the Agriculture and Markets Law of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals (class “E” felony)

They are scheduled to appear in the Springfield Town Court on April 3, 2025.

Traffic stop in the Town of Morristown leads to drug arrest

On March 25, 2025, Troop B-Violent Gangs and Narcotics Enforcement Team charged James S. Lago, age 41, of Ogdensburg, NY, Dustin C. Watson, age 39, of Massena, NY, and Bonnie L. Jeror, age 41, of Massena, NY each with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (a Class B felony).  Additionally, Jeror was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th degree (a Class C felony) and Jeror and Watson were charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (a Class A misdemeanor).

On March 25, 2025, at approximately 3:59 p.m., deputies from the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop in the town of Morristown. They stopped a gray 2024 Nissan Altima for failing to maintain its lane. New York State Police arrived at the scene to help interview the occupants, who were found to be in possession of approximately 500 bags of heroin and fentanyl, as well as over 40 grams of cocaine.

The individuals, identified as Lago, Watson, and Jeror, were subsequently arrested, and taken to the SP Ogdensburg for processing. They were arraigned in the Town of Canton Court and later remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility.

New York State Police was assisted by the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.


Elbridge Man Arrested Following Domestic Dispute

On March 25, 2025, at about 10:20 p.m., State Troopers responded to a reported domestic dispute that occurred at a residence on Whiting Road in the town of Elbridge, Onondaga County.

The initial investigation determined that Harvey J. Brown, age 64, of Elbridge, threatened the victim with a shotgun following a dispute over a utility bill. After Troopers arrived at the residence, Brown barricaded himself inside and did not respond to any efforts to contact him.  

Shortly after 3 a.m., Brown exited the residence and was taken into custody. He was charged with menacing 2nd degree and criminal possession of a weapon 4th degree, both class A misdemeanors. Brown was processed at SP Elbridge and transported to the Onondaga County Central Arraignment Part Court for arraignment. State Police obtained a search warrant and recovered two shotguns and a rifle from Brown’s residence.


State Police investigate a death in the town of Gouverneur

On March 26, 2025, at approximately 8:56 p.m., members of the New York State Police responded to Fox Farm Road in the town of Gouverneur for a welfare check on two elderly individuals. Upon arrival, the troopers discovered two deceased individuals inside the residence.

This investigation is ongoing. Authorities believe this to be an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the community.

The New York State Police are being assisted by the St. Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office and the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department.


State Police Investigate Stabbing Incident in town of Claverack

On March 26, 2025, at about 3:30 a.m., New York State Police responded to reports of a stabbing near 354 Route 217 in Claverack. Upon arrival, Troopers, along with Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies, discovered four men with stab wounds. Victims James R. Coxon, 35, Kyjuan Hotaling, 21, Oziahj Stroman, 19, all of Hudson, and William M. Metz, 35, of Claverack, were transported to Albany Medical Center for treatment. Law enforcement wants to assure residents that there is no ongoing threat to public safety linked to this incident.

This is an active and ongoing investigation, and more details will be released when available.

Fatal Multi-Vehicle Accident on State Route 13 in Town of Veteran 2023 – Arrest Made

On October 26, 2023, at approximately 7:29 a.m., New York State Police responded to a multi-vehicle accident on State Route 13 near Parrott Road in the town of Veteran.

In summary, a 2016 Ford Fusion, operated by Juria S. Vanness, age 41, of Ithaca, NY, was traveling north on State Route 13. A 2019 Chevy Silverado, towing a trailer carrying lawn mowing equipment operated by Alexei G. Seymour, age 25, of Millport, NY, was also traveling north. A 2018 Freightliner and a 2021 Mack truck were traveling south.

The 2016 Ford Fusion crossed the double solid centerline into the southbound lane and attempted to merge back into the northbound lane, striking the driver’s side of the trailer towed by the 2019 Chevy Silverado. Both vehicles entered the southbound lane into the path of the 2018 Freightliner. The lawnmower was thrown from the trailer of the 2019 Chevy Silverado into the path of the 2021 Mack truck, which subsequently struck it.

Seymour was pronounced deceased at the scene. Vanness sustained minor injuries but was airlifted by Life Flight to Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania.

On February 27, 2025, a Chemung County Grand Jury indictment was issued for Juria S. Vanness that charged her with:

    • Vehicular Manslaughter 1st: Previous Conviction within 10 years (C Felony)
    • Vehicular Manslaughter 1st: License Suspended/Revoked (C Felony)
    • Aggravated Unlicensed Operator 1st (E Felony), Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs: Prior Conviction within 10 years (E Felony)
    • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th (A Misdemeanor)

On March 14, 2025, a Superior Court Warrant for Vanness’s arrest was issued and signed by Judge Ottavio Campanella.

On March 25, 2025, Vanness was processed at SP Horseheads and transported to Chemung County Jail.
