State Police arrest Cobleskill man for Arson
On January 18, 2025, State Police arrested Scott T. Kleinberger, 62, of Cobleskill, NY, for Arson in the third degree and Arson in the fifth Degree.
On January 17, 2025, at about 1:17 p.m., Troopers responded to the area of Slate Hill Road in Sharon, NY, for the reports of a suspicious vehicle fire. The investigation determined Kleinberger allegedly traveled to the location and intentionally set fire to a vehicle that did not belong to him.
Kleinberger was arrested at his home and transported to SP Cobleskill for processing. He was then turned over to the Schoharie County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.
State Police were assisted during the investigation by the Schoharie County Fire Investigation Team and the Sharon Springs Fire Department.
Buffalo man arrested for over a kilo of cocaine and child pornography
On January 14, 2025, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation stationed at SP Clarence arrested Justin T. Greico, 32 of Buffalo, NY for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st degree (A-1 Felony) kilo brick of cocaine, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st degree (A-1 Felony) opened kilo of cocaine, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (B Felony)- 4 counts, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (A Misd) -5 counts, Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child (E Felony), Promoting a Sexual Performance of a Child (E Felony) and Criminally using drug paraphernalia 2nd degree.
The Bureau of Criminal Investigation out of SP Clarence with the assistance from the Troop A Computer Crimes Unit, conducted an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation in the city of Buffalo. Investigation determined Greico possessed and disseminated child pornography. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation executed a search warrant at Royal Ave in the city of Buffalo and located a chunk of cocaine, baggie of crack cocaine, scales and a ledger with names and dollar amounts, small amount of crack cocaine concealed inside a child’s backpack, baggie of mushrooms, an open kilo of cocaine, a full kilo of cocaine and US Currency estimated to be over $5,000. Greico was arrested and transported to SP Clarence for processing and taken to Buffalo Police Department Central Booking for CAP arraignment.
The NYSP Computer Crimes Unit, Troop A Violent Gang and Narcotic Enforcement Team, FBI Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Erie County District Attorney’s Office assisted in this investigation.
The mission of the ICAC Task Force is to identify individuals online who are attempting to lure children to meet for sex or those disseminating child sexual abuse material. The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program (ICAC program) helps state and local law enforcement agencies develop an effective response to technology-facilitated child sexual exploitation and Internet crimes against children.


Ogdensburg female arrested for CPCS 7th in the town of Louisville
On January 23, 2025, State Police members arrested Brittany M. Redmond, age 30, of Ogdensburg, NY, for criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th (2 counts) and criminal use of drug paraphernalia 2nd.
On January 23, 2025, at approximately 4:51 a.m., Troopers observed a 2006 tan Buick traveling south on Andrews Street in the town of Louisville. Troopers initiated a traffic stop and interviewed the driver, who was identified as Redmond. An investigation determined Redmond was in possession of a smoking device and narcotics. Redmond was arrested and transported to SP Massena for processing. She was released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Louisville Court for a later date.
State Police Investigate a Fatal Fire in Hornby
On January 22, 2025, the New York State Police responded to 5050 Hornby Road for a report of a structure fire with an elderly male trapped.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the fire broke out at approximately 7:44 p.m. When troopers arrived on the scene, they attempted to locate and rescue the male inside the residence but were unsuccessful as the residence was fully involved.
The following agencies responded: AMR Ambulance, East Campbell Fire Department, Corning Joint Fire Department, Painted Post Fire Department, Steuben County Emergency Services, Beaver Dams Fire Department, Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, and the Hornby Fire Department.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Moira male arrested for criminal mischief
On January 22, 2025, State Police members arrested Joseph J. Norton, age 41, of Moira, NY, for criminal mischief with intent to damage property.
On January 22, 2025, at approximately 10:20 p.m., Troopers responded to State Route 11 in the town of Moira for a criminal mischief complaint. An investigation determined Norton intentionally damaged the victim’s door when he kicked it open.
Norton was arrested and processed at SP Malone. Norton was arraigned in the Town of Bangor Court, where he was released on his own recognizance.
