State Police investigate a one car fatal in the town of Champlain
On January 17, 2025, at approximately 11:52 a.m., State Police members responded to Perry Mills Road in the town of Champlain for a one-car motor vehicle accident, vehicle into a tree. An investigation determined a 2015 gray Chevrolet Malibu, operated by John E. Hawkins, age 73, of Mooers, NY, was traveling west on Perry Mills Road when he lost control of the vehicle, exiting the roadway and striking multiple trees. Emergency medical services and Troopers began life-saving measures on Hawkins, but he was later pronounced deceased on the scene.
This is an ongoing investigation.
State Police are Investigating a One Car Fatal Collision in the Town of Wawarsing
On January 18, 2025, at approximately 10:55 p.m., Troopers out of the Ellenville barracks responded to a one car motor vehicle collision on Otens Rd in the town of Wawarsing.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling eastbound on Otens Rd, when due to adverse weather conditions, the vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a tree. The operator and sole occupant of the vehicle identified as Tammy Hyatt, age 56, of Ellenville, NY, was extricated from the vehicle. Troopers attempted life saving measures, but ultimately Hyatt succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Troopers look to ID burglary suspect in Tioga County
Troopers in Owego are looking to identify a person who burglarized a home on Whitmarsh Hollow Road sometime on January 13, 2025.
The Trooper investigating the case has been able to obtain a very good description the suspect. The suspect was wearing a scarf covering their face and operating an older model black UTV with no windshield or windows. The UTV had an orange triangle placard on the back and an exhaust pipe that sticks out further than most UTV’s.
The UTV was seen being operated on January 13, 2025, at approximately 2 p.m., west on Whitmarsh Hollow Road in the town of Candor then turning north onto the seasonal portion of Eilkor Road.

State Police arrest Glenville man for possessing Child Pornography
On January 17, 2025, State Police of Princetown, with the assistance of the Troop G Computer Crime Unit, the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, arrested Luigi Zadra, 79, of Glenville, NY, for Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, a class “E” felony.
Zadra is accused of possessing images consistent with child sexual exploitation. His arrest followed an investigation and the execution of a search warrant at his residence in Schenectady, NY, on January 17, 2025. The investigation stemmed from a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
Zadra was arrested at his home and transported to SP Princetown where he was processed. He was then issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Glenville Town Court on January 21, 2025 and released.
