State Police in Troop G make notable DWI arrests 2/5- 2/13

On February 5, 2025, at about 2:05 a.m. State Police of Greenwich responded to a one-car rollover crash in the area of State Route 22 in Hebron, NY.  The driver was identified as Corey D. Moore, 30, of Whitehall, NY. Moore was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations following an EMS evaluation. He was transported to SP Greenwich for processing, where he recorded a 0.14% BAC.  Further investigation discovered Moore has had multiple previous DWI convictions in the last ten years. He was arraigned at the Washington County Centralized Part Court, where he was released on his own recognizance.

On February 5, 2025, at about 9:00 p.m., State Police of Saratoga responded to the area of State Route 9 in Malta, NY, for the reports of a vehicle off the roadway.  The vehicle was located unoccupied. The driver was located walking nearby and identified as Peter C. Sacco, 44, of Ballston Spa, NY.  Sacco was arrested for Driving While intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.  He was transported to SP Saratoga for processing, where he recorded a 0.23% BAC. Sacco was issued tickets returnable to the Malta Town Court on February 20, 2025, and released.

On February 6, 2025, at about 12:19 p.m., State Police of Brunswick observed a vehicle stopped in the lane of travel of I-787 in Albany, NY.  Troopers approached the vehicle and identified the driver as Gregory T. Dilorenzo, 35, of Waterford, NY. Dilorenzo was arrested for Driving While Ability impaired by drugs and another Vehicle and Traffic Law violation.  While taking him into custody, Dilorenzo was found to possess a controlled substance, which was seized. He was transported to SP Brunswick for processing, where he was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) and refused to provide a blood sample to determine the drug content of his blood.  Further investigation discovered Dilorenzo had had multiple previous DWI convictions within the last ten years and did not possess a valid driver’s license. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Albany City Court on February 29, 2025, and released to a sober party. 

On February 7, 2025, at about 12:37 a.m. State Police of Saratoga stopped a vehicle on State Route 9 in Saratoga Spring, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation.  The driver was identified as Peter J. Kubesh, 41, of Newport News, VA. Kubesh was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He was transported to SP Saratoga for processing, where he recorded a 0.18% BAC.  Kubesh was issued tickets returnable to the Saratoga Springs City Court on March 11, 2025, and released to a sober third party.

On February 8, 2025, at about 3:09 p.m., State Police of Wilton responded to the reports of a one-car crash into a snowbank in the area of Saratoga Road in Moreau, NY.  The uninjured driver was located nearby and identified as Miranda J. Bernholz, 33, of Gansevoort, NY.  Bernholz was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to SP Wilton for processing, where she recorded a 0.26% BAC.  She was issued tickets returnable to the Moreau Town Court on February 26, 2025, and released to a sober party.

On February 8, 2025, at about 11:03 a.m. State Police of Clifton Park responded to the reports of a one-car crash off the roadway in the area of Grooms Road in Clifton Park, NY.  The uninjured driver was identified as Crystal J. Lynch, 43, of Albany, NY.  Lynch was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. She was transported to SP Clifton Park for processing, where she recorded a 0.20% BAC.  Lynch was issued a ticket returnable to the Clifton Park Town Court on March 5, 2025, and released to a sober third party.

On February 10, 2025, at about 5:37 p.m., State Police of Granville responded to the reports of a disabled vehicle in the median of I-87 in Queensbury, NY.  The driver was identified as David M. Randall, 42, of Troy, NY.  Randall was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.  He was transported to SP Queensbury for processing, where he refused to provide a sample to determine the alcohol content of his blood.  Further investigation discovered Randall has had a previous DWI conviction in the last ten years. He was issued tickets returnable to the Queensbury Town Court on March 3, 2025, and released to a sober third party.

On February 11, 2025, at about 3:05 p.m., State Police of Clifton Park responded to the reports of a two-car crash at the intersection of Schauber Road and Hubbs Road in Clifton Park, NY.  One of the drivers was identified as Erika L. Vonie, 37, of Ballston Lake, NY.  Vonie was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.  She was transported to SP Clifton Park for processing, where she recorded a 0.34%BAC.  Vonie was issued tickets returnable to the Clifton Park Town Court on February 26, 2025, and released. No injuries were reported as a result of this crash.


Watertown Man Arrested on Multiple Felony Charges Following Assault Investigation

On February 6, 2025, State Police in Watertown arrested Shane L. Kirkby, age 43, for (1) count of Assault 1st degree (B-felony), (1) count of Assault 2nd degree (D-felony), (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (D-felony) and (2) counts of Menacing 2nd degree (A -misdemeanor), stemming from an assault that occurred on November 16, 2023 in the Town of Rutland.

Search warrants that were conducted on Shane Kirkby’s cell phones, subsequently led to additional charges of (1) count of Unlawful Surveillance (E-felony) and (1) count of Obscenity 3rd degree (A -misdemeanor) stemming from an unrelated incident that also occurred in the Town of Rutland.

Shane Kirkby was arraigned on all charges in Jefferson County CAP Court and remanded to jail on $250,000 cash bail/ $500,000 secured bond/ $1,000,000 partially secured bond. Kirkby was issued a return court date of February 18, 2025 in the Town of Rutland Court.


UPDATED: New York State Police Investigating Shooting in Tops Parking Lot

On February 15, 2025, at approximately 2:54 a.m., Troopers responded to a 911 call reporting altercation in the Tops parking lot in Mexico, NY. The preliminary investigation determined that a suspect, who arrived in a dark-colored Chevrolet pickup truck, exited his vehicle and engaged in a physical altercation with the victim. During the altercation, the suspect shot and killed the victim.

The suspect, identified as Zachary W. Chilson, 31, of Mexico, NY, was arrested the same day and charged with Murder 2nd degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree.  Chilson was remanded to the Oswego County Jail pending arraignment in CAP Court. He was arraigned on February 16, 2025, and remains in custody without bail.  

At approximately 6:04 a.m. the same morning, Troopers received a report of a stolen vehicle in the same area. Investigators later located another stolen vehicle and the suspect in Ogdensburg, NY. After further investigation, Kevin A. Doxtater, 32, of Oswego, NY, was arrested and charged with Grand Larceny 2nd degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd degree. 

Investigators have determined that the stolen vehicles and Doxtater’s actions were not related to the homicide investigation.

Doxtater was remanded to the Oswego County Jail and arraigned in CAP Court on February 16, 2025.

State Police has identified and taken the suspect wanted in this homicide into custody.  

More information will be released as soon as they are available.  


The New York State Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in the early morning hours at 3385 Main Street, in the parking lot of Tops.

At approximately 2:54 a.m., Troopers responded to a 911 call reporting an altercation at the Tops parking lot. Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect, who arrived in a dark-colored Chevrolet pickup truck, exited his vehicle and engaged in a physical altercation with the victim. During the altercation, the suspect shot the victim. 

The suspect was last seen leaving the scene westbound on Main Street in the dark-colored Chevrolet pickup. The suspect is described as a white male wearing a green camouflage shirt with a hunting tag on the back.

The victim, who was pronounced deceased has been tentatively identified as Jacob Walsh, age 32 from Mexico, NY.

Update:State Police is Investigating a Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision in the Town of Liberty

On February 15, 2025, at approximately 11:07 a.m., Troopers from State Police Liberty responded to a one-car motor vehicle collision on Ferndale Loomis Road in the town of Liberty.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2019 Chevy pickup truck was traveling westbound on Ferndale Loomis Road when it veered off the road to the right, striking a utility pole and overturning. The operator and sole occupant of the vehicle identified as Charles Shauger, age 59, of Sparrow Bush, NY, was extricated from the vehicle and was transported to Garnet Health Medical Center Catskill for treatment. Shauger was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.  The investigation is ongoing.

On February 15,2025, at approximately 11:07 a.m., The New York State Police at Liberty responded to a one-car fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on Ferndale Loomis Road in the town of Liberty. The operator and sole occupant of the 2019 Chevy Pick up Truck was pronounced deceased at Garnet Hospital Catskill. The investigation is ongoing, updates to follow at a later time.


New York State Troopers Apprehend Homicide Suspect Wanted in Philadelphia

Westchester County, NY – A routine traffic stop conducted by New York State Troopers led to the arrest of a fugitive wanted for homicide in Philadelphia.

On February 15, 2025, Troopers Charko and Pelaez attempted to stop a vehicle reported stolen out of Virginia. The driver initially complied before fleeing at a high rate of speed, prompting a brief pursuit lasting approximately one minute and covering one mile. The pursuit ended when the suspect crashed the stolen vehicle, at which point he fled on foot. Troopers quickly apprehended the suspect a short distance from the crash site.

At the time of his arrest, the suspect provided false identification and was found in possession of multiple fraudulent forms of identification. He was transported to Westchester Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the crash.

Following fingerprint analysis, the suspect was identified as Geovanni Otero, who was wanted by the Philadelphia Police Department and the United States Marshals Service for homicide and other offenses. Otero was being sought in connection with the discovery of a 29-year-old female victim, who was found bludgeoned to death in a shallow grave on November 8, 2024.

In addition to Fugitive from Justice, Otero is awaiting arraignment tomorrow for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration, False Impersonation, Unlawful Fleeing, and Reckless Driving.

Otero remains in custody pending extradition proceedings.


Two vehicle fatal collision in Alexander

On February 16, 2025, at 12:00 P.M., Troopers out of Batavia responded to a two-vehicle collision on State Route 98 in the town of Alexander. Investigation determined that a 2016 Buick Encore was traveling northeast and a 2021 Jeep Cherokee was traveling southwest on State Route 98. The operator of the Buick, Anya R. Rambuski, 54 of Batavia, NY lost control and went into the southwest lane striking the Jeep. Rambuski was pronounced deceased at the scene. The operator and passenger of the Jeep sustained minor injuries.

The deceased was transported to Monroe County Medical Examiner’s office pending an autopsy.

The NYSP Collision Reconstruction Unit and Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted in this investigation.


Two Suspects Arrested in Connection with Grand Larceny Investigation

The New York State Police in Waterloo, NY, have arrested two individuals in connection with a grand larceny incident that occurred at the Speedway Gas Station located at 703 Waterloo Geneva Road, Waterloo, Seneca County.

On February 16, 2025, at approximately 6:33 p.m., Troopers responded to a report of a larceny not in progress at the Speedway Gas Station. Store employees reported that two individuals fraudulently purchased $11,500 in gift cards using a fraudulent debit card. The suspects left the scene in a white Ford Expedition.

A BOLO (Be On the Lookout) alert was issued to surrounding counties. Later that evening, at approximately 10:35 p.m., Troopers observed a white Ford Expedition matching the suspect vehicle description traveling on State Route 5 & 20 in Ontario County. A traffic stop was then conducted, during which the driver was identified as Marrion M. Simms, age 28, a Michigan resident with multiple fully extraditable warrants from Ohio, Missouri, and Pennsylvania. Another occupant was also identified: Deshon L. Davis, age 24, of Rochester, NY.

Troopers on the scene determined Simms and Davis to be the suspects involved in the Speedway larceny. Both individuals were taken into custody and transported to the New York State Police barracks in Waterloo for processing.

Both suspects were remanded to the Seneca County Jail pending centralized arraignment on February 17, 2025, at 7:00 a.m.


Traffic Stop Leads to Drug-Related Arrests in Bath, NY

On February 16, 2025, at approximately 10:39 p.m., a New York State Police in Bath initiated a traffic stop for traffic violations on East William Street in Bath, Steuben County.

During the stop, the Bath Police Department arrived on the scene to assist. The driver was identified as Joseph L. Burleson, age 60, of Savona, NY. Two passengers were also present in the vehicle.

Upon further investigation, the front passenger was identified as Robert E. Wright, age 42, of Campbell, NY, and the rear passenger was identified as Terry L. Bulkley, age 44, of Bath, NY. While exiting the vehicle, drug paraphernalia was observed on the floorboard. Additional drugs were in the vehicle and on Wright’s person.

A subsequent search resulted in the recovery of:

  • 1 gram of suspected methamphetamine crystal
  • Methamphetamine residue
  • Suboxone tablets without a prescription
  • Digital scales and additional drug paraphernalia

Wright was taken into custody, and Bulkley was found to have an active warrant from the Corning Police Department.

Arrests and Charges

Robert E. Wright was charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th (A Misdemeanor)
  • Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia (A Misdemeanor)

Terry L. Bulkley was taken into custody on an active warrant and transferred to Bath PD.

Both individuals were transported to SP Bath for processing before being taken to the Steuben County Jail for arraignment in CAP Court on February 17, 2025, at 8:30 a.m.


All businesses found to be in compliance during Underage Drinking detail

On February 11, 2025, New York State Police conducted an Underage Drinking detail in Otsego County.  All of the businesses checked were in compliance and did not sell alcohol to an underage operative.

The following fourteen businesses are recognized for their compliance:

  • Stewart’s Shop, Main Street, Worcester
  • Mirabito Quickway, Main Street, Schenevus
  • Discount Liquor, Main Street, Oneonta
  • Stewart’s Shop, Main Street, Oneonta
  • Red Apple Kwik Fill, Chestnut Street, Oneonta
  • Speedway, Oneida Street, Oneonta
  • Valero, Oneida Street, Oneonta
  • Oneonta Beer Depot, Main Street, Oneonta
  • Dollar General, State Route-7, Milford
  • Speedway, Main Street, Oneonta
  • Apple Express, 472 Main Street, Oneonta
  • Apple Express, Main Street, Oneonta
  • EZ Food Mart, Main Street, Oneonta
  • Country Store, Main Street, Oneonta

During these investigations, businesses are checked utilizing a Trooper in plainclothes and one or several underage operatives who cannot lie about their age or provide a false date of birth (if asked).
