State Police investigate Argyle fatal ATV accident
On December 28, 2024, State Police responded to the reports of an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) accident in the area of Miller Road in Argyle, NY.
On December 28, 2024, at about 10:15 p.m., Troopers responded to the area of Miller Road in Argyle, NY, and discovered Brandon D. Wren, 35, unresponsive in a wooded area behind his home. He had sustained fatal injuries due to a rollover ATV accident.
The death is currently under investigation.
State Police arrest two for felony drug possession following Fort Edward traffic stop
On December 26, 2024, State Police of Wilton arrested Elizabeth M. Beckett, 31, of Schenectady, NY, for:
- Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree
- Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the fourth degree
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the fifth degree
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree
- Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the third degree and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations
Taylor M. Ruddy, 23, of Middle Grove, NY, was also arrested for:
- Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree
- Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the fourth degree
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the fifth degree
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree
- Criminal Impersonation in the second degree
On December 26, 2024, at about 6:26 p.m., Troopers stopped a vehicle on Bridge Street in Fort Edward, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. Beckett was identified as the driver and found to not have a valid driver’s license. Ruddy was a passenger in the vehicle and initially provided false identifying information. Further investigation discovered multiple controlled substances within the vehicle, including felony-weight narcotics.
Both were arrested and transported to SP Wilton for processing. Ruddy was definitively identified and found to have multiple active warrants for her arrest. Both were then turned over to the Washington County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.
State Police in Troop G make notable DWI arrests 12/20- 12/27
On December 20, 2024, at about 1:32 a.m., State Police of New Scotland stopped a vehicle on Wolf Road in Colonie, NY, for Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. The driver was identified as Lee J. Edmonds, 39, of Albany, NY. Edmonds was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He was transported to SP Latham for processing, where he was uncooperative and refused to provide a sample to determine the alcohol content of his blood. Further investigation discovered Edmonds has had a previous DWI conviction within the last ten years. He was issued tickets returnable to the Colonie Town Court on January 8, 2025, and released to a sober third party.
On December 20, 2024, at about 3:30 p.m., State Police of Schodack responded to the reports of a one-car crash into the guide rail and a utility pole on State Route 9 in Schodack, NY. The driver was identified as Shawn K. Pollack, 42, of Troy, NY. Pollack was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He was transported to SP Schodack for processing, where he recorded a 0.15% BAC. Further investigation discovered Pollack has had a previous DWI conviction within the last ten years. He was issued tickets returnable to the Schodack Town Court on January 8, 2025, and released to a sober third party.
On December 20, 2024, at about 10:15 p.m., State Police of Granville stopped a vehicle on Thomas Road in Fort Ann, NY, after receiving reports of an erratic vehicle in the area. The driver was identified as Cathy M. Reed, 46, of Smyrna, GA. Reed was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. She was transported to SP Granville for processing, where she refused to provide a sample to determine the alcohol content of her blood. Further investigation discovered Reed has had a previous DWI conviction within the last ten years. She was then transported to the Washington County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.
On December 20, 2024, at about 11:00 p.m., State Police assigned to the Latham Interstate Patrol responded to the reports of a hit-and-run crash on I-787 in Green Island, NY. The vehicle involved was identified and stopped with the assistance of the Green Island Police Department and the Menands Police Department on Menand Road in Menands, NY. The driver was identified as Ben A. Blodgett, 36, of Troy, NY. Blodgett was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He was transported to SP Latham for processing, where he recorded a 0.21% BAC. Blodgett was issued tickets returnable to the Menands Village Court on January 14, 2025, and released.
On December 20, 2024, at about 11:45 p.m., State Police of Brunswick stopped a vehicle on Jefferson Street in Troy, NY, with the assistance of the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office. The driver was identified as Victoria E. Carter, 27, of Watervliet, NY. Carter was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to SP Brunswick for processing, where she recorded a 0.26% BAC. She was issued tickets returnable to the Troy City Court on January 13, 2025, and released.
On December 22, 2024, at about 5:22 p.m., State Police of Fonda responded to the report of a possibly intoxicated driver in the area of Mohawk Street in Fultonville, NY. The vehicle was located on Mohawk Street. The driver was identified as Jessica E. Fuller, 40, of Scotia, NY. Fuller was determined to have driven, allegedly intoxicated, to the location with a child under the age of 16 in the vehicle. The child was turned over to a family member. Fuller was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated with a child (Leandra’s Law). She was transported to SP Fonda for processing, where she recorded a 0.20% BAC. Fuller was issued tickets returnable to the Glen Town Court on January 23, 2025, and released.
On December 24, 2024, at about 8:38 p.m., State Police assigned to the Northway Interstate Patrol stopped to check on a disabled vehicle on I-87 in Clifton Park, NY. The driver was identified as Laurence C. Fernandez, 26, of Saratoga Springs, NY. Fernandez was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to SP Clifton Park for processing, where he recorded a 0.19% BAC. He was issued tickets returnable to the Clifton Park Town Court on January 8, 2025, and released to a sober third party.
On December 24, 2024, at about 10:45 p.m., State Police of Cobleskill, NY, stopped a vehicle on State Route 145 in Cobleskill, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. The driver with a revoked driver’s license was identified as Jamie L. Green, 41, of Sherburne, NY. Two children under the age of 16 were also located in the vehicle and turned over to a family member. Green was arrested for two counts of Driving While Intoxicated with a Child (Leandra’s Law), Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the first degree, and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. She was transported to SP Princetown for processing, where she recorded a 0.13% BAC. Green was issued tickets returnable to the Cobleskill Town Court on January 21, 2025, and released to a sober third party.
On December 25, 2024, at about 8:18 p.m., State Police of Clifton Park responded to the area of Dunsbach Road in Halfmoon, NY, for the reports of an erratic vehicle. Troopers located a vehicle matching the caller’s description and stopped it for Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. The driver was identified as Robert E. Gargano, 49, of Halfmoon, NY. Gargano was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He was transported to SP Clifton Park for processing, where he recorded a 0.32% BAC. Gargano was issued tickets returnable to the Halfmoon Town Court on January 8, 2025, and released to a sober third party.
On December 26, 2024, at about 2:44 p.m., State Police of Cobleskill responded to the reports of a one-car crash on State Route 30 in Middleburgh, NY. The driver was identified as Ronald C. Smith, 58, of Middleburgh, NY, and he was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the crash. Smith was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. While at the hospital, he refused to provide a sample to determine the alcohol content of his blood. Further investigation discovered Smith has had a previous DWI conviction in the last ten years. Smith was transported to SP Cobleskill for processing upon medical release. He was then arraigned at the Schoharie County Centralized Arraignment Part Court, where he was released on his own recognizance.
Rhinebeck Man Arrested for Falsely Reporting multiple incidents
On December 28th, 2024, State Police was contacted by the Chief of the Hillside Fire Department regarding several false reporting incidents being reported to the Dutchess County 911.
An investigation into the matter discovered Cyril Uebbing, a new member of the Hillside Fire Department was falsely reporting fire incidents to Dutchess County 911.
Investigators determined the following false calls were made by Uebbing by cell phone to Dutchess County 911:
- On December 23rd, 2024, at 1:57 pm, an individual contacted Dutchess County 911 to report black smoke coming from a chimney at the Southlands Farm located at 5771 Route 9 in the Town of Rhinebeck.
- On December 24th, 2024, at 10:38 am, an individual contacted Dutchess County 911 from the phone number that came back to Cyril Uebbing and reported an outdoor odor of sulfur in the area of Primrose Hill Road and Ackert Hook Road in the Town of Rhinebeck.
- On December 24th, 2024, at 2:30 pm, Dutchess County 911 received a call of an ATV in a ditch in the area of Mill Road and Lynwood Road in the Town of Rhinebeck. This matter was turned over to the New York State Police for further investigation and was ultimately unfounded.
- On December 24th, 2024, at 6:44 pm, an individual contacted Dutchess County 911 to report smoke in the area of Albany Post Road and Old Route 9, Habitat on the Hudson.
- On December 26th, 2024, at 12:07 pm, an individual contacted Dutchess County 911 to report the outdoor odor of gas in the area of 31 Riverview Drive and Mill Road in the Town of Rhinebeck.
On December 30, 2024, State Police arrested Cyril Uebbing, age 23, from Rhinebeck, NY, for (5) counts of Falsely Reporting an Incident 2nd degree, a class “E” felony. He was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Rhinebeck Town Court on January 8, 2025, at 5 p.m.
State Police Arrest Two Following Missing Commercial Vehicle Complaint
On December 23, 2024, State Police of Schodack arrested Kenneth W. Thomas, 52, of Berlin, NY, for Criminal Mischief in the second degree.
Nina M. Thomas, 34, of Berlin, NY, was also arrested for two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree.
On May 6, 2023, Troopers received a complaint about a possibly stolen commercial vehicle. The victim lives out of state and reportedly purchased the commercial vehicle from K. Thomas in August 2022. Following the sale and with the new owner’s permission in winter 2022, K. Thomas reportedly brought the vehicle to a storage lot in Canaan, NY. When the owner attempted to retrieve the vehicle in April of 2023, the vehicle was missing. The investigation determined that K. Thomas reportedly never transported the commercial vehicle to the storage lot. Further investigation determined K. Thomas had allegedly deconstructed the vehicle, leading to a search of K. Thomas’s property in Berlin, NY, where multiple parts reportedly belonging to the missing vehicle were discovered and seized.
In addition, during the search of the property N. Thomas was found to allegedly illegally possess two firearms classified as assault weapons. Both firearms were seized.
K. Thomas and N. Thomas surrendered themselves to SP Schodack, where they were arrested and processed. Both were arraigned at the Schodack Town Court and released on their own recognizance.
State Police arrest Vermont woman following a crash of a stolen vehicle
On December 22, 2024, State Police of Queensbury arrested Nichol L. Frost, 29, of Bellow Falls, VT, for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the fourth degree and Criminal Impersonation in the second degree.
On December 22, 2024, at about 9:34 a.m. Troopers responded to the area of State Route 149 in Queensbury, NY, for the reports of a one-car crash off the roadway. Frost was located uninjured in the vehicle. Further investigation determined the vehicle had been reported stolen on December 21, 2024, from Brattleboro, VT. During the investigation, Frost provided false identifying information. The vehicle was seized and will be returned to the owner.
Frost was arrested and transported to SP Queensbury for processing. She was then arraigned at the Warren County Centralized Arraignment Part Court, where Frost was remanded to the Warren County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,500 cash, $3,000 bond, or a $5,000 partially secured bond.
State Police arrest two for Animal Cruelty in Jefferson
On December 16, 2024, State Police of Princetown arrested Jonathan Summers, 46, of Jefferson, NY, for two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon.
On December 17, 2024, Summers and Jennifer A. Scott, 44, of Jefferson, NY, were each arrested for 39 counts of Agriculture & Market law- Overdriving, Torturing, and Injuring Animals; Failure to Provide Proper Sustenance.
On December 16, 2024, at about 1:55 p.m., Troopers responded to a residence in Jefferson, NY, for the reports of a property dispute. During the investigation, Troopers determined Summers unlawfully possessed multiple firearms. Summers cannot legally possess firearms in New York State due to a previous felony conviction. The firearms were seized, and Summer was transported to SP Cobleskill for processing. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Jefferson Town Court on February 3, 2025, and released.
While at the residence during the initial investigation, Troopers observed numerous cats living in poor conditions. Troopers returned the following day for further investigation into the animals’ wellbeing. Multiple ducks, chickens, and cats were located on the property shared by Summers and Scott. Both claimed ownership of the animals. The ducks and chickens were found to be in poor physical condition, with no access to food or water. In addition, multiple deceased animals were located. The two ducks, fifteen chickens, and twenty-two cats were voluntarily surrendered and turned over to the care of the Susquehanna Animal Shelter and the Schoharie County Animal Shelter.
After the evaluation of the animals, Summers and Scott were arrested and transported to SP Cobleskill for processing. They were issued appearance tickets returnable to the Jefferson Town Court on February 3, 2025, and released.
