State Police arrest two following Brunswick theft
On December 20, 2024, State Police of Brunswick arrested Hector R. Padin, 48, of Troy, NY, for Grand Larceny in the fourth degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Conspiracy in the fifth degree, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree.
Shannon K. Terry, 50, of Troy, NY, was also arrested for Grand Larceny in the fourth degree Tampering with Physical Evidence and Conspiracy in the fifth degree.
On December 20, 2024, at about 7:51 p.m., Troopers responded to the Walmart in Brunswick, NY, for the reports of a larceny in progress. The investigation determined Padin and Terry reportedly entered the store and worked together to steal multiple items valued at over $1,000. They met back up outside the store following the theft and were located together, walking nearby, where they were arrested. When taken into custody, Padin was found to possess multiple controlled substances.
Both were transported to SP Brunswick for processing. They were arraigned at the Brunswick Town Court and remanded to the Rensselaer County Correctional Facility without bail.
State Police arrest Clifton Park woman for stealing more than $30,000 from employer
On December 23, 2024, Mandy Navarro, 50, of Clifton Park, NY, was arrested for Grand Larceny in the third degree.
On December 19, 2024, Troopers received a complaint from a Halfmoon, NY, Business reporting a theft. The investigation determined the business had employed Navarro as an office manager. The investigation determined Navarro allegedly used the business’s credit card multiple times without permission or authorization to make purchases unrelated to business needs from August 2023 until December 2023. Navarro’s actions resulted in the reported theft of more than $30,000.
Navarro was arrested in Saratoga Springs, NY, and transported to SP Clifton Park for processing. She was arraigned at the Halfmoon Town Court and released on her own recognizance.
State Police Arrest a Smithtown Man for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Leandra’s Law) in the Town of Windham
On December 28, 2024, at approximately 10:08 p.m., Troopers out of Coxsackie conducted a traffic stop of a 2021 Cadillac Escalade on South Street in Windham, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. While interviewing Durando, troopers smelled the strong odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath. Durando submitted to field sobriety test which he subsequently failed and was placed under arrest without incident. Two children under the age of 16 were also located within the vehicle. Durando refused chemical testing and was released with an appearance ticket to the Town of Windham Court on February 12, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.
New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team Recovered the Body of a Male Jumper from The Bear Mountain Bridge
On December 28, 2024, at approximately 11:12 a.m., Troopers out of the Haverstraw barracks responded to a report of an individual jumping off the Bear Mountain Bridge.
The Preliminary investigation revealed that the 32-year-old male victim parked on the eastbound side of the Bear Mountain Bridge and subsequently jumped off the bridge. The State Police Underwater Recovery Team responded and located the victim deceased in the Hudson River.
