Ogdensburg male arrested for Promotion of a Sexual Performance by a Child and Possession of a Sexual Performance by a Child
On 12/19/24, the New York State Police Troop B Computer Crime Unit arrested AUSTIN S. CAMERON, 25, of Mechanic Street, Ogdensburg, New York on one count each of Promotion of a Sexual Performance by a Child and Possession of a Sexual Performance by a Child. The investigation was initiated by an online platform reporting to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) child exploitation material had been sent through that online platform through a residential WiFi network CAMERON had access to.
CAMERON was arraigned in City of Ogdensburg Court and was released on his own recognizance. CAMERON is to reappear in City of Ogdensburg Court on 01/21/25.
The investigation is still ongoing.
The Troop B Computer Crime Unit was assisted by Ogdensburg Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations.
Domestic Incident leads to arrest in Oswego County
On December 19, 2024, State Police arrested Eric J. Pudney, age 30, from Constantia, NY, on the following charges:
Menacing 2nd degree (class “A” misdemeanor”)
Burglary 1st degree (class “B” felony)
Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (class “D” felony)
Criminal obstruction of breathing (class “A” misdemeanor)
Criminal Mischief 4th degree (class “A” misdemeanor)
Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd degree (class “A” misdemeanor)
Pudney was arrested following a domestic dispute complaint on Baum Road in the town of Hastings. He allegedly forcibly entered the female victim’s residence and initiated a physical altercation that resulted in retrieving a shotgun and pointed it at her and made threats.
The victim managed to call 911 and escape the residence once New York State Police arrived on scene.
Pudney was taken into custody and is currently being held at Oswego County Jail for arraignment. A Temporary Extreme Risk Protection Order was filed under the state’s Red Flag Law.
State Police conduct an Underage Drinking Initiative in Oneida County
On December 19, 2024, the New York State Police, in conjunction with the New York State Liquor Authority, conducted an Underage Drinking Initiative in Oneida County.
As a result of the initiative, the following locations were checked and found in compliance:

The following locations were found NOT to be in compliance with the laws dealing with the sale of alcohol to persons under the age of 21:

As a result Kaur Hardeep, age 36, from Boonville, NY, was charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 1st degree (PL 160.20) and Prohibited Sale of Alcohol to a Person Under 21 years old (ABC 65-1).
During these investigations, businesses are checked utilizing a Trooper in plain clothes and one or several underage operatives who cannot lie about their age or provide a false date of birth.
New York State Police warn public of scams during holiday season
The New York State Police have recently received complaints of scammers persuading victims that money was accidently deposited into their bank account, or they have unauthorized charges.
These scammers will send a link to gain access of your computer to manipulate and receive funds from your bank account.
Contact your financial institution directly and call the New York State Police if you believe you are a victim of this scam.
If you are contacted by someone who instructs you to withdraw money from your bank so they can come pick it up, this is also a scam.
Do NOT withdraw money or turn over any funds. If someone contacts you on the phone or your computer requesting you withdraw money to be turned over to them, contact the State Police immediately.
Small Plane Lands on NYS Thruway in Albany

At about 12:43 p.m. today, a Beechcraft Travel Air twin-piston aircraft made an emergency landing on the NYS Thruway northbound near Exit 23, in the city of Albany. The pilot realized he wouldn’t make the runway due to mechanical issues and instead decided to land the aircraft on the Thruway.
The pilot, Logan M. Steed, age 19 from Winnsboro, South Carolina and two passengers, Steven D. Strunk, age 54 and April D. Strunk age 52 both from Mount Perry, Ohio were not injured.
The plane departed from Fairfield County Airport in Winnsboro, South Carolina at 8:35 a.m., and was headed to Bennington, VT. The pilot was attempting to land at Albany International Airport due to mechanical issues. The aircraft is registered to a flight training school in Winnsboro.
State Police and the FAA continue to investigate the incident.
Three people dead after head-on collision in Tioga County
On December 20, 2024, at approximately 1:26 p.m., New York State Police at Owego responded to State Route 34 in the town of Barton for a head-on collision with injuries. Members of Great Valley EMS and Waverly Barton Fire also responded to the scene.
A preliminary investigation at the scene revealed that a Toyota Highlander was traveling north on State Route 34 when it crossed into the opposite lane of travel and struck a Chevy Silverado pick-up truck head-on that was traveling south on State Route 34.
Four people were traveling inside the Toyota Highlander. The driver of the Highlander, a 42-year-old female from the Bronx was transported by ambulance to Robert Packer in critical condition. A 56-year-old male passenger from the Bronx was transported by ambulance to Robert Packer Hospital for what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries. A rear seat passenger, a 41-year-old male from the Bronx was pronounced deceased on scene. A rear seat passenger, 38-year-old female from the Bronx was transported by ambulance to Robert Packer and later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
One person was traveling in the Chevy Silverado pick-up, a 68-year-old male of Athens, PA who was pronounced deceased on scene.
The investigation is on-going.
No names will be released at this time as notifications to the next of kin have not been made to all of the victims.
State Route 34 was closed between Old Route 34 and Oxbow Road for several hours while members of the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit conducted their investigation.
