Solar Eclipse Viewing Party Draws Crowd to Dunham Public Library

Shirley Greene (“like grass, but with an ‘e’ at the end”) was one of the participants at today’s Eclipse Viewing Party at Dunham Public Library in Whitesboro. She’s originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, but now lives in Whitesboro. Her late husband was an Episcopal priest in Ilion for 34 years. She watched the 2017 eclipse at home but said it was lovely to be able to enjoy it with others at the library.

At around 3:30 p.m., the temperature began to drop, and street lights came on along Main Street as night temporarily fell. At the precise moment of totality, the sun and moon were obscured by clouds, but for most of the eclipse, the crowd got a good view of the phenomenon.
