OLD FORGE, NY –The Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI) is
seeking enthusiastic ski volunteers for its Camp Abilities winter program at McCauley Mountain on Sunday, January 18, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This unique event provides visually impaired campers with an unforgettable skiing experience, and volunteers play a vital role in making it happen.
Volunteers must be intermediate-level skiers or above and comfortable skiing backwards while supporting the weight of a camper. Each volunteer will be paired with a Camp Abilities CABVI skier for the day, assisting both on the slopes and inside the lodge. Volunteers assist campers with equipment rentals and lodge setup, help with lunch service from noon to 1 p.m., support them on the tow rope hill, and ski alongside or ahead of campers to
promote independence by day’s end. This rewarding experience allows volunteers to share their love of skiing while empowering campers to build confidence and skills on the snow. To sign up as a volunteer, please contact Dylan Drexler at dyland@cabvi.org.
