It’s the season for helping neighbors and the Salvation Army is handing out holiday necessities at the Oncenter in Syracuse Thursday morning. It’s their annual effort to make sure everyone can have a good Christmas.
Families who pre-registered are getting a basket of food and toys. Volunteers are on site helping families pick out the perfect toy for their child. There are approximately 20,000 toys to choose from for the thousands of families who signed up. But at the end of the distribution day, they expect to help around 8,000 people.
Masks are required when picking up items Wednesday. Most years, enough people are registered for the Christmas Bureau event, that around 10,000 people are helped.
