Rome Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the Shoe Dept. regarding a larceny complaint

On Friday, May 17, 2024, members of the Rome Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the Shoe Dept. (103 Erie Boulevard West) regarding a larceny complaint. The suspect was identified as Dusty J. Derocha (28yrs old/Rome, NY) and subsequently taken into custody.

Upon being taken into custody, Derocha was found to be in possession of a large quantity of Methamphetamine (~123.08 grams), a quantity of Fentanyl, a quantity of Cocaine, a functional digital scale, packaging materials, and adulterants (“cut”).
The Rome Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit was contacted to assist in the investigation; Derocha was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree (A-II Felony) and Petit Larceny (A-Misdemeanor). Further drug charges are pending due to lab results. Derocha was booked, processed, arraigned, and remanded to the Oneida County Jail.
