Rome Police Department Patrol Division responded to Staley Upper Elementary School

On Thursday, June 6, 2024, at approximately 1:30pm, the Rome Police Department Patrol Division responded to Staley Upper Elementary School, located at 620 East Bloomfiled Street in the City of Rome, for a report of a burglary in progress. Upon their arrival they located Santos C. Cruz, forty-one years old, of Rome. Cruz was seen inside the building near a large pile of coper piping. Cruz attempted to flee arrest by re-entering the building but was unsuccessful. He attempted to flee the area. He was ultimately arrested and charged with:
• Burglary in the 3rd Degree
• Resisting arrest
Cruz was processed and transported to the Oneida County Jail for arraignment.
