Over 350 cartons of Seneca and Newport brand cigarettes were seized due to being unstamped/untaxed, along with 10+ pounds of cannabis flower, a large quantity of
cannabis products, a large quantity of flavored nicotine vapes, and $4,010 in U.S.
currency.

Chiekh M. Leghdaf (32 yrs old), Houssein E. Tghana (29 yrs old), and Mohamed Mouhamdy (29 yrs old) who were all residing in the City of Rome, were arrested and charged with Possession of 30,000 or more Unstamped Cigarettes (Class D Felony). Said parties were arraigned in Rome City Court and subsequently released on their own recognizance.
The Special Investigations Unit was assisted by members of the Rome Police Department
Patrol Division, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, and the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office.
As a result of these subsequent investigations, and the City of Rome Code of Ordinances, the location’s certificate of occupancy has been revoked for the period of one year.
