
On April 7th, 2025, at approximately 1420 hours, a robbery was reported to the Rome Police Department. The victim reported that she was operating her vehicle in the 900 block of Floyd Ave. She advised that as she slowed her vehicle due to traffic, a male, brandishing what appeared to be a firearm, approached her vehicle, threatened to harm her and subsequently demanded money. The victim, who was accompanied by her young child, were not harmed during this incident. An investigation by the Rome Police Detective Division and Patrol Division quickly identified the suspect as twenty-nine-year-old, Javon J. Barner, of Rome. Barner was located and subsequently taken into custody shortly thereafter. Barner was charged with one felony count of Robbery Second Degree, processed, and transported to appear at centralized arraignment at the Oneida County Jail.
