Reps. Tenney, Schneider Break Partisan Seating Arrangements at Congressional Baseball Game, Sit Together in a Sign of Unity

Joint Statement on the Congressional Baseball Game

Washington, DC—Today, Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) and Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) announced that they will be sitting together at this evening’s Congressional Baseball Game. Following the tragic events of yesterday, Congresswoman Tenney and Congressman Schneider will eschew the traditional partisan seating arrangements and join together in a show of unity.

“Yesterday’s events stunned us all and our thoughts and prayers remain with Majority Whip Steve Scalise, his family, and all those impacted by this senseless act of violence. Now more than ever, it is important for Members of Congress to lead by example and show the American people that regardless of party affiliation or political differences, we are united by our shared love of country and enduring commitment to public service. Sitting together this evening is a small gesture of good faith and bipartisanship, but it is one we are committed to building on and strengthening each day we have the opportunity to serve together. If a Democrat from the suburbs of Chicago and a Republican from upstate New York can come together, despite our differences, we hope that all Americans can find the space in their hearts and time in their day to do the same.”

Congresswoman Tenney and Congressman Schneider took office in January 2017 and have collaborated on two bipartisan pieces of legislation since the start of the 115th Congress.
