REPRESENTATIVE JOHN W. MANNION (NY-22) SECURES $1,031,000 FOR ONONDAGA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

SYRACUSE, NY — Representative John W. Mannion (NY-22) today announced $1,031,000 in federal Community Project Funding for the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office to purchase and equip a new Mobile Command Center, a critical public safety investment identified as a local priority.
Representative John W. Mannion said, “The law enforcement professionals at the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office need the tools and resources to respond quickly, coordinate effectively, and keep our communities safe. This federal investment delivers on a locally identified need and strengthens the sheriff’s ability to manage emergencies, support large-scale public events, and protect residents across the region. I am proud to stand with our professional local law enforcement officers and continue building on my record of supporting public safety initiatives, both in Congress and during my time in the State Senate.”
Sheriff Toby Shelley said, “This federal investment represents a transformative leap forward for the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office and the citizens we serve. A modern Mobile Command Center is not just a vehicle; it is a vital hub that allows our deputies, K-9 units, and specialized teams to maintain seamless communication and tactical superiority during critical incidents. Whether we are managing a large-scale public event or conducting a high-stakes search-and-rescue mission, this technology ensures we have the best tools available to protect life and property. I want to sincerely thank Congressman Mannion for his unwavering advocacy and for securing the resources necessary to keep our law enforcement professionals at the forefront of public safety.”
The funding will allow the Sheriff’s Office to procure and outfit a state-of-the-art mobile command unit to enhance emergency response, strengthen interagency coordination, and improve operational effectiveness in the field. The Mobile Command Center will assist in all aspects of Onondaga County emergency operations, including safety and coordination at large public events, search and rescue missions, SWAT operations, enhanced communications, and deployment of modern equipment during critical incidents.
The $1 million investment to support the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office is part of 15 Community Project Funding priorities advanced by Representative Mannion in partnership with local leaders across Central New York and the Mohawk Valley. All 15 projects have passed Congress and been signed into law, delivering a total of more than $15 million in federal funding to address locally identified needs—including public safety improvements, lead service line replacement, water and wastewater modernization, workforce training, airport infrastructure upgrades, and research critical to America’s economic and national security.
