Climate change continues to effect the world we live in, and several local churches are stepping up to help make a difference.
Representatives of the Catholic Church, United Church of Christ, Presbyterian Church and the Episcopal Diocese held a conference about climate change Wednesday. It allowed people to get together and come up with ways to create a more sustainable Earth.
Representatives are asking people of faith to “Save Our Earth and Our Children” by reducing global carbon footprints.
At the meeting, they gave suggestions such as carpooling, looking towards green source energy, consuming less meat and conserving electricity. Representatives say there’s plenty of ways to help combat climate change.
“Perhaps the most influential is to advocate for change with industries or with government or the way it was brought up today by a parishioner, going into the holiday season, where we buy presents from or what presents we buy, or how much we are commodifying our money. So, all of those things make a difference and it takes all of us working together. Every person has a part to play in this change,” said DeDe Duncan-Probe, Episcopal Bishop of Central New York.
Many parishioners also spoke at the event, calling for current generations to think of the future.
