The final television numbers are in for Fri., Oct. 8.
SmackDown was down following the draft, but stayed above two million viewers and finished in a first place tie (with ABC’s Shark Tank) among network shows among 18 – 49 year olds. Audience numbers were 4.66% below the Oct. 1 episode at 2.252 million. WWE scored a .52 rating in the key demo, an almost 15% drop from the week prior. The blue brand did win the night for FOX with 18 – 34 year olds, scoring a .33 to beat Shark Tank.
Rampage had a similar mixed picture. The eye popping number was viewership, which fell slightly more than 19% to a series low 502K. That was offset somewhat by a bounce back in the ratings; the .17 among 18 – 49 year olds was a little more than 21% better than Oct. 1’s number.
Competition was an issue for AEW in a way it isn’t often on Friday nights. The top rated show on cable this past week was the LA Dodgers/San Francisco Giants baseball playoff game airing on TBS, which didn’t start until 9pm ET. Still Rampage finished 15th among cable originals, and was TNT’s only ranked show on the night.
What does it all mean? Heck if I know! Feel free to discuss and debate below, though.
